6MR Lego Theme Park Rides

This term, in Design Technology, children in Year Six are learning about the history of fair grounds, designers and how rides work. With the new knowledge, they design their own fairground ride, in groups, and then build it with Lego. They are each given a motor to create a type of motion. The children then use the WeDo software on the laptops to provide the motor with instructions. 

The children loved it! Now it's 6BH, 6CH and 6DA/LM's turn! 

Year Six Theme Park Rides

In September, we visited Legoland. At Legoland, we tried out theme park rides and learned how to carry out computing with Lego kit. It was a great day!

Since, we've planned, developed, built, programmed, debugged and presented theme park rides of our own!

6MR DT Lego rides

What a creative two weeks!

The children first, in teams, discussed ideas before coming up with a solid plan for their Lego theme park rides. This was inspired by our September trip to LegoLand.

The children then start to construct their rides and were given a motor to include some motion.

They then used a coding program to communicate with their ride.
